Well we survived the Blizzard of Feb. 2010. Magnolia Delaware received almost 30 inches of the white stuff. It must have been big, it made the news in Sidney and Bangkok. We passed our time with our neighbors watching movies, chatting with friends on-line and putting together puzzles. We were lucky enough not to lose power but were prepared if we did. Looks like we may have more snow heading our way Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. We won’t be getting out of school until the middle of summer making up all these snow days. I guess we will try to venture out will we can.
This past Sunday I was invited to join a Reiki class as a refresher, since it has been about ten years that I last had one. What a wonderful experience. The master who taught this class is Deanna Fitzpatrick. She was an awesome instructor who really went with the flow of the class. She knew how to pull the best out of her students and helped us to learn our individual style of sensing energy. I hope to finish my master with her. She is also a very gifted medium, which is originally how I met her.
There were four others taking this class. Each and everyone of them brought great insight and personality to the group. It was nice to feel so welcome and connected. I hope that I get to work with them all again.
I have been putting what I learned to good use practicing on my family and friends. I am looking forward to my next class. Seems I have plenty of people willing to let me practice

Time to stop and catch my breath. It seems like a heartbeat ago that I met my oldest child. You wait all that time in anticipation of their birth. It feels like an eternity. Not knowing that once you bring them into this world it would feel like your life was on fast forward. I don’t seem to gauge my age by how old I am anymore but by how grown my children are. Shayna graduates high school in just a few weeks. No longer the little girl in pigtails chasing butterflies. Now she is a young woman on the verge of a whole new adventure. It has been such an honor to have helped her to reach this point. For those who are a part of her life you already know that she is amazing. She is intelligent, witty, sensitive, determined and loves nature. There is such a bitter sweetness to watching your children grow up. I am so proud of all she has already accomplished but so miss the little girl who showed me the world through enchanted eyes. Baby girl just know your mom really loves you a lot!!!!!

Well my birthday came and went a month ago but I didn’t want to forget to thank my wonderful family and friends. This year marked my 40th birthday!!!!!!! I asked my family to allow me to turn 40 gracefully. PLEASE no black streamer or tombstones in the front yard. Just a quiet cake and ice cream kind of thing. Needless to say, them being who they are, small was not in their vocabulary. They gave me something I never had before. A fantastic surprise party to celebrate with me. There were no black streamers or tacky over the hill signs. They had bright colored happy decorations and gave me a day to hold dear instead of a day of dread. The funny thing is I can’t remember a time that I felt more comfortable in my own skin or more confident in myself. I do have to say that when I look at my three teenagers I often wonder how we got here so fast. They are so independent and brilliantly alive. They are what keep me young.
For the Winter Solstice we try very hard to do something that centers around nature. This year we decided to take the kids to Longwood Garden in PA. We usually make the trip once a year but normally in warmer weather. The garden was done up beautifully for the holiday season. This is a photo taken not very far from the meadow. The size of the trees that grow here are awesome. As you can see all three of my children fit on a limb. The fountain show is a sight to see but to get the full effect you need to wait until the sun goes down. Then you can see the wonderful lighting that dances to the organ music. We also walked through the conservatory. It was also decorate with gigantic trees dressed in holiday decorations using living plants. The new children’s garden is nothing less than enchanting with its fountains that are guarded by mythical creatures and its wishing wells that mist rolls from. The spiral staircase holds many secrets. Throughout all of Longwood Gardens you have to really pay attention so as not to miss anything that has been so artistically and lovingly created. We always walk away with the desire to go home and create our own wonderland.
